Black Women Will Save the World: How Jill Scott & Erykah Badu healed an entire community over one IG Live

You see this. These are the faces of women who over the course of a few hours managed to make an entire community forget their anxieties and worries, forget our current quarantine, forget the woes of yesterday and today and just groove for a bit over Instagram Live thanks to Verzuz.

For those who are unfamiliar, Verzuz, a musical collaboration between multiple artists, has been keeping us quarantined folk entertained by bringing together music legends from across Black Music, from Hip Hop to R&B to “battle” each other by sharing their favorite songs. Some of these verses are intense, some even get a little heated, some are relaxed and very collaborative, but competitive nonetheless. All have been interesting to say the least.

So when Verzuz started advertising their upcoming show featuring Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, those of use who have been long standing fans of both were wondering how a musical battle between the very vibey, soulful battle would even pan out.
