Thanks so much for the read.

I personally don’t think either; darkening or lightening; is right. They are both forms of dysmorphia.

Here is the difference; darker people use skin lightening due largely in part to the Eurocentric beauty standards being forced on various cultures. You can see this in people of color around the world.

With white people; this skin darkening comes as a form of appropriation. It is attempting to adopt the features of women of color, the same women of color that have been oppressed by Eurocentric beauty standards for generations.

Both are wrong but only one is sinister.

In addition; tanning is something that happens as protection from the sun.

Also, just because America has his own ethnic and diversity issues, where do you think those came from?
