First and foremost, you're missing the point of this piece. The point is to say that it is ok if you believed Jussie because, in essence, it means that you believe victims and support them. That still is a good thing; to hear the numerous stories of those who have experienced attacks like this, to believe them, and to stand with them is a human thing to do.
Also, as far as the legislation passed, it was more than JUST Pelosi, but congress who passed it, and if it dealt with hate crimes, then it was beyond necessary. I'm sure they had WAY more than just Jussie's story as a reason to finally do so.
