Hi Louis.

I see that you don’t get this, so I will make it plain: if of every 1000 sexual assaults committed, only 300 get reported. Of those 300, only 10 are lying about it. Most women don’t come forward because they feel nothing will be done or that people will accuse them of lying, which in fact can be seen in your own reactions to a piece that really isn’t about you.

When in doubt, the stats would suggest believing women.

Black women get married and have healthy relationships, same as white women. Hate to break it to you, but as a person actually from the community, your stereotypes are wrong. I would suggest you let those stereotypes die.

And c’mon, only a willfully blind person would suggest that there is not implicit bias against people of color by law enforcement. As it is said “when your skin color is the weapon, you’re never seen as unarmed.” You can see this in recent mass shootings where officers, even after their own are shot and killed, manager to apprehend those shooters alive. Meanwhile, Black people are just out here trying to live their lives and manage for some odd reason to get murderer by law enforcement. Even a casual view of the data would show the observer that something is wrong with the system, Louis.

And just because I say I don’t need a man to come rescue me does not mean I don’t want one. In fact, it is the mark of a healthy woman that she in fact does not need a romantic relationship, but instead chooses it. Just saying.

Again, thanks for reading.
